Amherst Island is one of the best known spots in Ontario, (Canada) to photograph owls and raptors in the winter. The Island regularly supports large populations of owls including the snowy owl, short-eared owl, great-horned owl, long-eared owl, barred owl. Other special sightings include the northern saw-whet owl, great grey owl,northern hawk owl, and the rare boreal owl. While owls are a big draw for birders and photographers, the island boasts over 350 species of birds including bald eagles,harriers, swans,ducks, rough-legged hawk and the red-tailed hawk. Other wildlife in the area includes coyotes, deers ,otters ,fishers and red fox.
Fred’s intimate knowledge of the island, ensures that you will be able to access prime locations, away from crowds where you will blend in with the environment and capture spectacular images.Fred will be on hand at all times to give you as much (or as little) help as you need. All levels of photographer are very welcome on this workshop. This workshop is a birders and photographer’s dream.

Workshops are available for single day or multi-day sessions. This small group experience ensures you have an intimate experience with the owls and will allow you to focus on the developing your skills to Photograph these magnificent creatures and create lasting memories.

Booking and Cancellation Policy
Please read carefully before booking with us.
Fred Lemire Photography reserves the right to cancel a workshop or event at our discression. Although this is extremely rare, we need to let you know this should an unforeseen situation arise. In this case, all your registration fees will be fully refunded or an alternative workshop/date will be presented to you for your consideration.
Given our commitment to small groups, the cancellation of your spot is a significant loss to us. For this reason, we do not provide exemptions to our booking and cancellation policy.
-We require a deposit 50% of the total fees at the time of booking to reserve your spot. The remaining 50% is due 90 days in advance of the workshop
In the event that you have booked a workshop with us and a situation arises where you must cancel, cancellation notice, for any reason, must be provided in writing, by email.
-If you cancel 90 days or more before the start of the workshop, a full refund will be issued minus a $500 administration fee plus transactions fees.
-If you cancel 30-89 days before the start of the workshop, a refund will be issued, minus 50%, plus transaction fees.
-If you cancel 29 days or less in advance of the workshop, no refund will be issued.
If you must cancel, please notify us as soon as possible, we may be able to accommodate you in another workshop at our discretion and dependant on space. A change fee of $300 is required.
You may wish to invest in travel insurance to protect your purchase, should you need to cancel due to an unforeseen circumstance.
